To determine which clones of grapes would be best for our land we took professional soil samples. They dug several holes 6-7’ deep to evaluate the soil composition at different depths. After laboratory analysis our wine expert will advise us on the amemdments needed for the soil and the optimum root stock and Pinot Noir clone.

The soil was excellent, with 6-18” of topsoil. The soil underneath had the usual suspects for the Russian River; clay, granite dust and shells.
